American Airlines installing LED lighting onto its 737 fleet
May 25th 2011
As automakers and other manfacturing sectors embrace the energy-saving abilities of LED lights, it was only a matter of time before the airlines caught on. According to BizJournals.com, American Airlines has recently completed an interior re-design project on its 737 aircraft dubbed the "Boeing Sky Interior."
The design project is an extension of a $5.5 billion project to bring the carrier's planes up to code and into the next century. The new cabins feature more leg room, overhead bins that can fit multiple carry-ons and LED lighting above seats and throughout the cabin.
The airline will be ordering 15 new 737-800s from Boeing this year, and it will continue its large-scale project of redesigning existing aircraft to make its fleet more appealing to consumers.
While illuminating an airplane cabin may seem like a daunting task, bringing energy-efficient lighting to your home is easy with LED strip lights. These fixtures are perfect for the underside of furniture or cabinetry and come in a wide range of colors. They can attach to any flat surface with the aid of their 3M adhesive strips to offer the biggest bang for your buck.
