East Meadow, New York set to install new LED crosswalk warning signs
East Meadow, New York, local government officials are looking to convert more than 1,800 intersection lights to LED lighting and crosswalk warnings to reduce accidents and help keep pedestrians safe, according to The East Meadow Patch.
County Executive Ed Mangano spoke on his decision to move forward with the change.
“There is nothing more important than keeping our residents safe,” Mangano told the news outlet. “We will continue to introduce new ways to ensure people can use our roadways with no fear."
The new crosswalk signs will now include a 10 second countdown timer that will give pedestrians an advanced warning of changing streetlights. By switching to LEDs, the town will not only cut down on the maintenance of the lights, it will also save money and the medium's increased lifespan far outweighs traditional incandescent lighting options.
Converting your small business to LED lights is a great way to cut utility costs and to reap the benefits associated with LED lighting – long life span, durability to thrive under harsh conditions and cutting back on carbon emissions. LED T8 tube lights are ideal options for businesses of all sizes, and they will install directly into existing ballasts.
