Colored LEDs will light up a birthday party
Having a summer birthday isn't always easy for kids. After all, when your birthday falls in June, July or August, you don't get the same class-wide celebration that kids with school-year birthdays do. If your child was born during the summer months, you can still throw a great party – and light up the place with colored LEDs!
A summertime birthday is the perfect excuse for an outdoor event, like a backyard barbecue or a pool party that the whole neighborhood can attend. To celebrate your child's special day, try decorating your yard with lots of colorful balloons, streamers and party favors like fun plates and napkins.
When the sun goes down, you can keep the party going with colored LED lights. Available in dozens of options, including pink, green, blue and yellow, colored LED lights can enhance any kind of decor – whether it's dinosaur-themed or a pretty princess party. And since LED lights are so durable, not even a bunch of stampeding kids can break them.
Try stringing rope lighting through the bushes and trees in your backyard to take any birthday celebration to the next level, while keeping your whole yard safe and well-lit.
Art Van Furniture wins green award for LED use
Top 100 company Art Van Furniture was recently recognized by DTE Energy and Engineering Society of Detroit for its eco-friendly efforts after it made the switch to LED lighting, says Furniture Today.
Art Van Furniture's 34 showrooms feature some 38,000 bulbs and lamps, mostly incandescent, which can burn as hot as 200 degrees and use a vast amount of energy annually. For every bulb that was swapped for an LED, the company saved 63 watts of energy – and the new LEDs can only heat up to 85 degrees, saving Art Van big money on air conditioning and cooling costs.
"Switching to LED gives us crisper, cleaner, brighter lighting, and longer lamp life, which equals far lower maintenance costs," Art Van's property manager, David Winowiecki, told the source. "We're doing something that is eco-friendly, saves the company money, and we won an award for doing it. You can't beat that."
Small businesses worldwide are realizing that LEDs are the perfect lighting to keep costs down while still showing off beautiful merchandise in well-lit showrooms. Try some LED T8 tube lights in your small business today.
LED lighting a popular choice with automakers
As everything from phones to computers become more customizable, vehicles are no exception – and LED lights are one way automakers are letting drivers make their rides unique.
According to the Detroit Free Press, automakers like Audi, Cadillac and Ford are increasingly focusing on LED lights when it comes to headlights, brake lights and even interior lighting on their vehicles.
While Audi recently touted the benefits of its super-bright and extremely reliable LED headlights and fog lights, Ford is hoping to win over young drivers with LED cabin lighting that can change colors at the touch of a button.
LEDs are popular with car makers for a number of reasons, including their durability, reliability and cost efficiency. All of those benefits make LEDs the perfect choice for at-home lighting, too. LED rope lights, available in a myriad of colors and styles, are ideal for use both indoors and out. Try them in your backyard to add a romantic twinkle to any summertime gathering, or string them in the bedroom for a cool glow that's great for reading your favorite book.
LEDs can light up the basement
Many of us venture down the basement only a few times a year, but should that mean that we have to fumble around in the dark to find what we need? With LED lights, you can illuminate your basement whenever you need to – without costing yourself a fortune.
LED rope lighting is ideal for use in the basement, attic, garage or any other space in your home. Because it's so durable, you don't have to worry about dampness damaging the bulbs. Plus, thanks to its long-lasting technology, you know it'll light up every time you turn it on – even if you haven't used it in months.
LEDs shed a cool, natural light that makes it easy to see into even the smallest nooks and crannies. With LED lights, you'll never have to fumble through boxes or try to find what you're looking for by feel alone. Bright, directional light from LEDs will illuminate even the tiniest spaces in your basement.
Whether you're heading down to find holiday decorations, old photo albums or just to check on the hot water heater, LED lights have got you covered.
Illinois town lights up First Fridays with LEDs
Starting in June, the city of Galesburg, Illinois, will begin its traditional First Fridays outdoor art and shopping festival – and this year, the town is making a few changes, including bringing bright, clear LED lights into the fold.
The First Fridays event is a pedestrian-based shopping festival in the Seminary Street Historic District. This year, the street will be closed to vehicles for the first time, says Galesburg.com – which could boost attendence and help local small businesses sell even more.
But that's not all that's enticing Galesburg residents to come out – beautiful, sparkling LED lights will add some romance to this year's nights on the town. The LED rope lights have been set up in a criss-cross pattern over the street, shedding a natural glow on attendees as they explore everything the area has to offer.
LED rope lighting can make any event more special and unique, from an event at your small business to a family reunion in the backyard. Try LED rope lights at home and at work for a twinkle that adds a pretty touch to any and all gatherings.
Olney, IL to install LED lights
The city of Olney, Illinois, is one of the latest locales in the U.S. to make the switch to LED lighting.
According to the Olney Daily Mail, this small midwest hamlet is in the process of replacing sodium-based lighting along its main roads with more efficient LEDs. Not only will the LEDs provide the town with bright, clear light for decades to come, they'll also help cut costs significantly when it comes to maintenance and energy bills.
Some 81 bulbs will be replaced along Main Street and Whittle Avenue, says the source.
Olney joins hundreds of other cities, big and small, who are opting for light-emitting diodes over incandescent lighting sources. LEDs are easy to maintain and install and can help improve safety for both drivers and pedestrians.
LEDs are great for in-home use, too. You can brighten up any space in your house with LED rope lighting, including the kitchen, dining room and even the backyard. In the bathroom, LED T8 tube lights are the perfect for providing just the right lighting for hair, makeup and shaving.
LED light therapy can help cure skin woes
You already know that LEDs are eco-friendly, energy-efficient, cost-effective and even mood boosting. But did you know that LEDs can help cure skin problems like acne? LED light therapy has been proven to help beautify complexions from the inside out, naturally and safely.
Blue LED wavelengths have been shown to kill the bacteria that causes acne, clearing up blemishes and helping skin heal quickly and painlessly, says Technorati. A special wand exposes skin to the light, which can begin healing up pimples and zits in just a few weeks.
Of course, that's not the only use for colored LED lights – lots of people love colored rope lighting for its decorative purposes around the home. And while blue LED lighting in the bathroom may not clear up your acne, an LED T8 tube light will certainly provide natural, long-lasting illumination that's perfect to apply makeup or style hair by.
Colored LED lights can add flare to your backyard, spice up your entertainment center or transform a child's bedroom into a magical sanctuary. Try them in your home today.
