The use of 3-wire rope lighting allows for the creation of chasing patterns that appear to move. As a result, 3-wire rope lighting is often used in Christmas displays, most often on the tops of houses where large patterns can be created. Of course, 3-wire rope lighting isn't the limit. Up to five wires can be used in rope lighting, and the more wires that are used, the more complex patterns that are produced. The different wires work on alternating circuits, which allows for their complex moving patterns.
Rope lighting such as the 3-wire version is available in a variety of colors and can be used for both stand-alone decorations and for temporary party decorations. Pink rope lights, for example, are frequently used at birthday parties for little girls, while red and green lights make appearances at Christmas parties and other holiday gatherings. Orange and black lights may be present at Halloween carnivals and haunted houses, and pastel ropes are seen at Easter gatherings. The possibilities for chasing effects and other patterns are really endless with 3-wire and 5-wire rope lighting.
3-Wire Rope Lighting Versus String
Traditional string lighting can also produce complex and interesting patterns, and can even simulate movement. However, ropes are tougher, more durable and tend to last longer. Ropes can also be bent to extraordinary angles in order to create stunning and unexpected designs, and can be cut to custom lengths.
